Current Elected Position Councilwoman, Fourth Ward, Town of Morristown

Quality of Life is the most important challenge facing our town. Traffic, parking, code enforcement, public safety, unchecked development, protection of our open spaces – these are the issues that directly affect the quality of life for each and every Morristown citizen. When these things suffer, our Quality of Life deteriorates. That is why I am running for the office of Mayor. I want to work to ensure Morristown is always a wonderful place to live, work, play and raise a family. We need smarter spending NOT higher taxes. We need local government that uses resources wisely and finds creative solutions rather than thoughtlessly throwing money at problems. We need better traffic management. Our local government needs to adopt and enforce a town-wide and regional traffic master plan. We need better street parking. We need stronger fire laws and code enforcement. Safety should be a community priority because people deserve to be secure in our buildings. We need well-planned development. We need to ensure that the projects that get built today serve the needs of the public tomorrow. Currently, developers are defining the town, not the people. We need to protect our environmentally sensitive areas. I started the Friends of Foote’s Pond organization, now a model for Pocahontas and Speedwell Lake and other organizations in town that are rallying support to maintain our parks and to protect our water. I advocated for the preservation of Kleitman’s Woods, a property on Hillcrest Ave.
As a Morristown Councilwoman for the last ten years, I consistently have put Morristown residents first. In my third year of elected office, I was recognized for my hard work and was appointed Council Vice President by my council colleagues. In 2011 and in 2015, I was reelected to the Morristown Town Council. This past May, as Administrator & Co-Event Chair for the Whippany River Watershed, I raised $15,000 for their Inaugural Testimonial Dinner. Previously, I was Director of Development for the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions (ANJEC) and was responsible for fundraising, membership, business development, and special events. My private sector experience includes being a Senior Manager at Accenture, (formerly Andersen Consulting), where I consulted to the telecommunications industry on various projects including business process improvement and management practices. During my consulting career, I worked for American Management Systems and A.T. Kearney. I began my career as an analyst for the U.S. Department of Commerce/NTIA. Locally, I founded and currently serve as President of MARDOG, Inc. a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization which established the first county off-leash dog park at no cost to taxpayers and promotes responsible dog ownership and safe and clean parks. MARDOG has donated over $16,000.00 to the Lewis Morris County Dog Park.
