I have attended numerous mass fatality training courses to be prepared in the event of a mass fatality event.I serve on the Board of Directors for the New York State Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners and have been working for many years to make it mandatory for all Medical Examiners and Coroner's to have training and be certified as death investigators.
If elected i would like to finally see legislation passed for Coroner and Medical Examiner mandatory training. In 2016 i spoke to Assemblyman McDonald of my district and encouraged him to consider sponsoring a bill in the NYS Assembly. He agreed and a bill was passed in both the Senate and Assembly requiring mandatory training for all Medical Examiners and Coroners.Hopefully the governor will sign this bill. I also urged local Albany county lawmakers to enact a similar law in Albany County this law was passed in 2016..I feel very strongly that training is vital to doing a professional job for the residents of Albany County
