Profession Law Enforcement Officer and Chief of Police for 29 years.
Making sure that the residents of Greece remain safe in our community. For 29 years I dedicated my life to protecting families and making sure people felt safe in their homes and in their neighborhoods. I proudly served Greece residents as a Police Officer for 14 years with the Greece Police Department. As Town Councilman, I will make sure our police officers have the necessary tools, training and equipment needed to effectively perform their duties and stay proactive on crime.
As a former member of the Town of Greece Board of Zoning Appeals, I worked closely with the Town's Planning Board to make sure applicants followed all proper town codes and regulations to effectively balance business and private development with the protection of the environment and open space in the Town of Greece. We worked diligently to limit or prevent any impacts to the surrounding areas and neighborhoods. As Town Councilman, I will use this experience to work with the Town Board to further the Town's already impressive record of preserving open space in our community.
The Town of Greece offers people looking to move to, and within, our community so many opportunities to find affordable housing, from town homes, apartments and lower-cost single-family homes. I know firsthand how well the Town's Code Enforcement Department and Board of Zoning Appeals work together to make sure our residents can enjoy their quality of life and not be negatively impacted by poorly maintained nearby properties. I support the Town's successful efforts to address zombie homes and poorly maintained properties and will work with my colleagues to ensure that people continue to have diverse housing opportunities in our community.
The Town of Greece has done a great job of working with other communities to share services for the benefit of local taxpayers. The Public Works Department works with other municipalities to share equipment which is a very cost effective way to provide service to residents and prevent the need to purchase expensive equipment that may only be needed for a specific project. Years ago, Greece Police Officers used to patrol along the 390 Expressway which is know patrolled by the New York State Police. This allowed our local law enforcement to increase patrol's in Greece's residential neighborhoods. As Town Councilman, I will work with my colleagues to continue to explore new shared service opportunities to benefit local taxpayers.
In just a few short years, the Town Supervisor and Greece Town Board have aggressively sought out opportunities to reduce the impact on the environment, from purchasing new vehicles with higher fuel efficiencies, to replacing lighting fixtures in Town buildings with LED bulbs, to bringing solar panels online to reduce traditional energy usage in its facilities. As Town Councilman, I will seek additional measures and new technology to build on this success and will work to bring new development into Greece that utilizes green and sustainable energy solutions.
