As Mayor, I will get our fiscal house in order, protect and maintain the character of our neighborhoods, ensure the safety of our citizens, and ensure government transparency and access to all.  White Plains needs experienced leadership with vision not just the status quo. As an immigrant, an urban planner and trained architect, Common Council member, and educator, I have the background, professional expertise and experience to take on the challenges of being the Mayor of White Plains.
There is a difference between affordable housing, which is housing for teachers, policemen, firemen, etc. and low-income housing. Remember, an “affordable” 1-bedroom is now approaching $300,000 in our downtown area. As a Common Council Member, I was the first to propose WP create 10% citywide affordable housing for all new developments. If elected, I will not only seek to increase the number of affordable units but also increase the qualifications for affordable housing.

I firmly believe that we are strongest when we are united behind our shared progressive values. That's why White Plains is committed to community policing, our police force does not ask about immigration status, and we're stepping up to protect the environment. We have governed responsibly, improving our financial outlook at the same time as we invest in the services & programs that make White Plains a welcoming and thriving community.
I've made it a top priority for our city to expand the number of affordable housing units available. We're requiring developers of big multi-family housing projects downtown to include, and fund, affordable housing units in their developments. There are now hundreds of units either under construction, permitted to begin construction, or proposed. White Plains has always been a community that people of different income levels could call home, and we're making sure that it stays that way.
