I have been privileged and proud to serve our residents on Bay Village City Council for 8 years, and to form ideas for additive improvements. Several thoughts.....1) formation of a citizen advisory committee, which serves as a liaison to City Council, offering ideas for future legislative enhancements; 2) creation of a City Council academy, where residents can ask questions and learn about the workings of our city government, and 3) in my tenure as Council President, continue the practice of welcoming citizen participation in meetings, greatly increasing financial accountability and transparency, and enhancing the value, efficiency and legislative output of our City Council meetings.
I feel it important to view and itemize all the potential improvements available to us, then prioritize and time implementation based on the projects which are of maximum benefit to our residents. No one project or person should dominate the conversation or decisions to implement. Critical to this is our evaluation of opportunities in the City's central business district, which has the potential for enhancements.

Larger infrastructure projects, such as the Sunset and Bruce/Russell/Douglas areas are of biggest concern, given the magnitude of potential spending by the City. These have been on Council's radar for a number of years, and need to be addressed. In general, sewer considerations, not viewed as visible enhancements, will require future attention and resources.

In general, I am not in favor of using public funds for private development. However, if there is an appropriate housing or commercial development project which enhances, in several ways, our fine city and additive benefits to our residents, we would be prudent to assess objectively at that time.

I favor expanded housing options, yet in a style and character reflective of what we believe Bay Village should be. The proposed Legacy project is the City's first major housing addition in almost 15 years, and we would be well-served to see how this project fares before planning other developments. Considerate, thoughtful and deliberate discussion on housing options should be our priority.

In summary, the Bay Village we will see in 10 years should be substantially no different than the city we all enjoy today....largely residential, with improved housing stock, coupled with living options sensitive to all ages and means. I envision better connectivity throughout our city, with that same smaller town appeal that makes Bay Village the best place to live in northeast Ohio.
