The town is facing a water infrastructure issue that will affect each citizen in an increasingly negative fashion. The lack of a clearly defined business, residential zoning plan that is easily read, accessible to the citizens is also an issue. As a candidate, I tend to frame issues in a way that are user-friendly and understandable. I feel a "water" plan and a clear "zoning" plan would be beneficial to all.
As a school teacher it is important to have a clear plan that can be communicated to all stakeholders (e.g. students, parents, community). I practice this daily. As a student myself, I am required to study, problem-solve, and develop thinking that is useful and efficient. These attributes of planning, communicating, and studying lend nicely to supervising a town.
Education A graduate of Schalmont Central Schools, SUNY Cobleskill (A.A.S. Business Administration) and Siena College (B.S. Marketing and Management)
Experience Elected Town Supervisor in 2015, past Town Board Member, serving from 2003-2005, and Town Supervisor from 2006 through 2009. Licensed Financial Advisor with Empire Financial Advisors, Inc. with over 30 years of financial services and banking experience.
Bettering the quality of life for all of us in Rotterdam is the overarching issue. From ensuring vital services are funded & continue, Police, EMS, Youth & Senior services, Highway, etc. to ugrading our water & sewer infrastructure leads to a positive image of our Town & makes it a desirable place to live & work. We've applied for grants in the millions of dollars to reduce the cost of the Hamburg Street Sewer Line, Lock St stormwater solution & the purchase of property for the protection of the drinking water for the residents in Rotterdam Junction, & a long-term plan to enhance our water system throughout our Town. We introduced new zoning boosting the prospects for property owners from Main Street in Rotterdam Junction, to 5 Corners, to Hamburg Street. Our shared vision for new commercial & industrial projects & redeveloping empty buildings & development of senior housing & related services throughout Rotterdam will increase our tax base, bring jobs, & keep property taxes low.
In 2015, I decided to run again for Supervisor as the Town Board required unity to get more accomplished throughout our Town. My past experience in public service, coupled with my private sector managerial and financial background, qualifies me for Town Supervisor. This position involves getting people to work together; the Town administration and employees working together & here are some of our accomplishments: We've stayed under our State TaxCap of 1%, ensuring residents receive their STAR rebates, eliminated the $50 brush fee, ensured public safety, re-staffed our Water & Sewer Maintenance Dept., made numerous stormwater improvements, upgrades being made to our Sewer Plant, pump stations, etc. & there are several new projects in the works for 2018. Improvements to all town parks & resurfaced our tennis courts at Juracka Park and Esposito Park, redeveloped our basketball courts at Carman, Esposito, & Memorial Parks. Thank you & please vote November 7 - Tommasone, Rappazzo, Signore. logo
