Biographical Information

New Jersey has some of the highest property taxes in the nation. What, if anything, do you propose to lower property taxes?

New Jersey's state pension system has recently been named the worst-funded state retirement plan in the country and is arguably one of our largest financial problems. How do you propose to address our state's pension issues?

How can New Jersey meet our energy needs while protecting our environment? For example, would you support energy conservation, expansion of renewable energy projects, hydraulic fracturing, and pipelines, etc?

What would you do to promote job growth in our state?

Please indicate three additional state priority issues for you (not already listed in this questionnaire) and explain how you would address them.

Qualifications/Experience A successful family man, a professor, an accomplished businessman and a philanthropist. A long time Rockaway Township. New Jersey State resident, & a community leader.
Working with and building partnerships with various businesses, organizations, government and individuals: Re-invigorate NJ economy, grow the middle class; realistic property taxes and major restructuring of pensions. Encourage small businesses and tax breaks involving industries with intensive labor needs. Encourage vocational-high technological training in High schools, community colleges/universities. Eliminate counter- productive legislation & regulation, especially those placed by special interests
Review current pension system and adopt sustainable pension system for workers that shows accountability and transparency that meets financial standards and management. Perhaps invest in the US stock market under strict and stringent guidelines. Eliminate pensions for part- time work including relatives of present and future politicians. Too bad this was not addressed 10 years ago before it had gotten out of control!!
Using new lamps with minimal power needs would be a good start. Fracking under proper controls and with proper methods has shown in most studies works with no environmental damage.
DEVELOP/INVEST IN INCUBATORS IN VARIOUS PARTS OF THE STATE TO PROMOTE ENTREPRENEURSHIP ACTIVITIES. SET UP STUDY COMMISSION TO EVALUATE WHAT OTHER SUCCESSFUL STATES HAVE DONE AND REPLICATE. NEW BUSINESSES - YOUNG ENTREPRENEURS- INCENTIVES MUST BE ENCOURAGED AT ALL LEVELS INCLUDING ON-THE-JOB TRAINING. WORK CLOSELY/HARMONIOUSLY WITH COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATIONS, MAJOR BUSINESSES, RELIGIOUS GROUPS AND NGOS TO REVIEW RESOURCES. MAKE HOUSING AFFORDABLE TO REDUCE/SLOW DOWN AND DISCOURAGE PEOPLE FROM MOVING OUT OF STATE BECAUSE OF HIGH RENT AND HIGH PROPERTY TAXES.
