I believe that the most important quality of a judge can best be described as the judge’s “Judicial Temperament.” Judicial temperament means that a judge is committed to being open-minded, will listen respectfully and with patience, listen to the facts of each case, and with a commitment to fairness and integrity make a decision, free from bias or personal beliefs, based solely on the law and facts of the case.
To maintain the integrity of our judicial system, and the public’s faith in our judiciary, a judge must operate his or her courtroom with the integrity to recognize situations when a judge’s impartiality may reasonably be questioned. As such, I am committed to following the Pennsylvania law and the Code of Judicial Conduct which defines the circumstances under which a judge should recuse himself or herself in any proceeding.
I am committed to being patient and providing all parties access to our courts. I am committed to ensuring that all parties have a voice in my courtroom. I am committed to running a cost effective courtroom, with a focus on moving cases through our system as expeditiously as possible. I have several ideas that I believe could be implemented that will help to make our courts more accessible, alleviate scheduling delays, and ultimately reduce costs.
