Why are you the best candidate for this position? (750 characters)

I am the best candidate for this position because of my experience, perspective, and values. As a life-long resident, I am deeply rooted in this community and have a history of giving back and supporting my neighbors. As a social worker who has worked in human services for over 10 years, I have experience working with people of many identities and backgrounds. As a non profit leader I understand how to be a responsible steward of resources while maintaining alignment with mission, values, and strategic goals. I bring a well rounded perspective grounded in the experience of everyday community members and centered in community care. As Mayor, I will bring my values of equity, accountability, dignity, and justice to every council conversation.

If elected, what will your top three priorities be and why? (500 characters)

Community input and transparency are a priority as the best decisions are made collectively. When community feedback is valued by responsive leaders, it builds trust and encourages civic engagement. As one of many renters in this community, I am also concerned about tenants rights and affordability and believe that everyone deserves access to fair and affordable housing. Environmental justice and sustainability is also critical for our community to be resilient in the face of climate change

If elected, what strategies will you use to ensure transparency, accountability and ethical conduct in city government under your leadership? (500 characters)

I will engage in public discourse, sharing the reasoning for my stance on issues. I will encourage and be responsive to community feedback, always looking to center the perspectives of those most impacted by council decisions. I will thoroughly research and stay informed about community issues and seek input from community experts to support decision making. My social work background also instilled a strong sense of ethics which will help me maintain boundaries and avoid conflicts of interest.

How will you engage with residents to solicit feedback, involve them in decision-making processes, and ensure their voices are heard? (500 characters)

I will be responsive to contact, and follow through on invites to engage with community stakeholders. I will examine the ways current feedback mechanisms such as surveys, forums, and community engagement events are distributed and structured to ensure that they are accessible to people most impacted by issues being addressed. I will seek opportunities for dialogue with community members and report on how feedback is used to ensure that constituents feel heard.

How will you approach public safety and community policing to ensure the well-being of all residents? (500 characters)

I believe the city should expand their understanding of public safety beyond criminal response to include prevention through support of a robust social safety network. Our communities are safest when people have access to the resources they need including safe housing, financial stability, and community support. I would support policies that strengthen partnerships and share resources with local service organizations whose missions are centered in helping ensure the well-being of residents.

Why are you the best candidate for this position? (750 characters)

Mankato deserves a mayor who leads with integrity, listens to the people, and puts the community first. My life of service—as an Army veteran, educator, small business owner, and community leader—has prepared me to make tough decisions, solve problems, and bring people together. I believe in protecting taxpayers, supporting public safety, encouraging responsible growth, and creating opportunities for every family to succeed. I'm not running for a title; I'm running because I love Mankato and believe its best days are still ahead. Together, we can build a stronger, safer, and more affordable future for everyone.

If elected, what will your top three priorities be and why? (500 characters)

My top priorities are: (1) Fiscal responsibility—protect taxpayers by spending wisely and increasing transparency. (2) Public safety—ensure our police, fire, and emergency services have the resources to keep our neighborhoods safe. (3) Affordable housing through growth—remove barriers to building more housing so families, seniors, and young professionals have more choices without placing additional burdens on taxpayers.

If elected, what strategies will you use to ensure transparency, accountability and ethical conduct in city government under your leadership? (500 characters)

I will lead with honesty, openness, and accountability. I will support clear financial reporting, make city information easy for residents to access, encourage public participation before major decisions, and hold every department to high ethical standards. Taxpayers deserve to know how their money is spent, why decisions are made, and that every action serves the public—not special interests.

How will you engage with residents to solicit feedback, involve them in decision-making processes, and ensure their voices are heard? (500 characters)

Good government starts with listening. I will hold regular town halls, attend neighborhood meetings, maintain an open-door policy, and use online surveys and social media to gather input from residents. I will encourage public participation before major decisions and ensure every voice is treated with respect. The best solutions come from working with the people who live, work, and raise their families in Mankato.

How will you approach public safety and community policing to ensure the well-being of all residents? (500 characters)

Public safety is the foundation of a strong community. I will support our police, fire, and emergency responders with the training, staffing, and equipment they need while promoting community policing that builds trust through visibility, communication, and partnerships. I will work to reduce crime, support prevention programs, and ensure every resident, family, business, and visitor feels safe in every neighborhood across Mankato.
