What are your top priorities for court operations?
Ensuring court policies and procedures create efficiencies while maintaining access to justice.
What trial or court experience do you bring to the bench?
Prior to taking the bench I was in private practice for fifteen years practicing in the area of civil litigation. I was appointed in 2017 and took the bench in 2018. I have presided over many civil and criminal trials during my time on the bench.
Are there any current criminal sentencing laws that are outdated or need to be changed?
As a judge, my role is to follow the laws enacted by the legislative branch.
What can be done to improve access to justice for all North Dakotans?
The judicial branch is continually examining ways to ensure access to justice for all. There are a variety of committees in place that examine these and other issues. I am happy to work with other judges on these committees to ensure continued access to justice.
