What are your top priorities?
My top priorities are helping North Dakotans keep up with the cost of living, making sure people affected by policies have a voice in decisions, and strengthening our communities. I hear from too many people working hard but still falling behind. We need practical solutions that help families get ahead, while making sure we’re taking care of our neighbors and not leaving anyone out.
How would you ensure that North Dakotans’ healthcare costs are affordable?
I’d focus on practical ways to lower costs—protecting and expanding access to affordable coverage, supporting rural healthcare providers, and increasing transparency so people know what they’re paying for. We also need to address prescription drug costs and make sure people can get care early, before small issues become expensive emergencies.
How would you address the housing needs of the state?
We need more housing that people can actually afford. That means supporting local development, especially in growing communities
What is your position on allowing public funds to be directed to non-public education?
I believe public funds should prioritize our public schools. They serve the majority of students and are the backbone of our communities. Families should have choices, but we need to make sure those choices don’t come at the expense of strong, well-funded public education. My focus is making sure every student has access to a quality education, no matter where they live.

What is the role of the federal government regarding states’ rights, and are there currently any areas where you believe there is an imbalance?
The federal government should set basic standards and protect individual rights, while states handle what’s best managed locally. The balance works best when both respect those roles. I think tensions often come up in areas like healthcare, education, and environmental policy, where we need both national consistency and flexibility for states like North Dakota to meet their unique needs.

What are your top priorities?
My top priority is to serve as a legislator who will use valuable time in session to advance bills and debates that meaningfully touch the everyday lives of Minot residents. One example of this is to propose that the legislature conduct a study of the imminent changes in federal healthcare commitments. This should be crafted to both prepare state agencies and explore resolutions that protect North Dakotans from pending changes.
How would you ensure that North Dakotans’ healthcare costs are affordable?
In addition to the previously mentioned study, I believe North Dakota should use its tools to improve the healthcare system for everyone. One of those tools is the Bank of North Dakota. I would propose legislation to offer low- or no-interest loans to incentivize healthcare professionals to practice in North Dakota.
Bolstering the supply of practicing healthcare professionals in North Dakota would likely reduce costs & increase quality across the system and be worth the necessary appropriation.
How would you address the housing needs of the state?
Housing issues in North Dakota have been growing and are reaching a boiling point. The legislature must be mindful of this issue and take steps to ensure it fosters an environment in which supply can responsibly keep up with demand. We should take a close look at whether construction permitting is straightforward and identify any opportunities for responsible regulatory reform.
We should also create and bolster trade programs that incentivize young people to learn and practice here.
What is your position on allowing public funds to be directed to non-public education?
I do not support directing public funds to non-public education. K-12 is one of the most essential services the state legislature can support. The frontier nature of our state necessitates strong commitments in our rural communities to ensure they receive a high-quality education. This is a commitment we have fallen short on in recent years. Our focus should be on reinforcing those commitments we have made in the past.
What are your views on the current voting methods and access to voting in North Dakota?
As with many things, North Dakota can serve as a blueprint for the rest of the nation. Our election systems and the local/state actors that run our elections deserve tremendous credit. Our elections are safe, secure, and conducted professionally and with safeguards to protect voter access.
We must stand strong on these commitments by continuing to provide the appropriate resources for programs that provide ID attainment services and allow them to reach all four corners of the state.
What is the role of the federal government regarding states’ rights, and are there currently any areas where you believe there is an imbalance?
The relationship of the states with the federal government should be one rooted firmly in the principles of the U.S. Constitution. While the federal government holds supremacy over the states, that supremacy should be exercised cautiously and as infrequently as possible.
There have been examples of federal regulators overstepping, and we should always defend North Dakota's interests against federal overreach while also keeping an open mind on a case-by-case basis.
