What are your top priorities?
My top priorities:
1) increase access to affordable childcare
2) Strengthen communities through more access to behavior and mental health services.
3) Access to affordable healthcare
How would you ensure that North Dakotans’ healthcare costs are affordable?
I think it's important to advocate with our Federal Representatives to work on increasing funding for the Affordable Care Act. What we can control is investing in North Dakota's 27 critical access hospitals, This will ensure better access and higher quality of services.
How would you address the housing needs of the state?
I will continue to advocate for additional state funding for affordable housing. In the 2025 session we added 25 million to help fund affordable housing. This is done through the Industrial Commission budget.
What is your position on allowing public funds to be directed to non-public education?
Since I was elected in 2014 I've supported public school funding increases each legislative session. I will continue to support public schools funding increases especially in the areas of CTE and Special Education.
What are your views on the current voting methods and access to voting in North Dakota?
In North Dakota our voting methods meet the needs of our citizens across the state. I see no reason to tamper with our current practices.
What is the role of the federal government regarding states’ rights, and are there currently any areas where you believe there is an imbalance?
As a state legislator, I'm certainly in favor of more flexibility at the state level in how we use federal funding.

What are your top priorities?
My top priorities are: 1) Cost of living and housing, so families can afford to live, work, and retire here through fair taxes and attainable homes; 2) Strong public schools and affordable, high‑quality childcare with robust student mental health support; and 3) Workforce and healthcare, ensuring reliable care and attracting and retaining workers across North Dakota.
How would you ensure that North Dakotans’ healthcare costs are affordable?
I believe no North Dakotan should have to choose between health care and rent. I’ll work to keep premiums and drug prices down, protect Medicaid and ACA subsidies, and support rural clinics and telehealth so care is close to home. I’ll also invest in prevention and mental health so we save money by keeping people healthy, not just treating illness.
How would you address the housing needs of the state?
North Dakotans deserve safe, attainable homes in every community. I will support state investments and smart incentives to build more starter homes, rentals, and senior housing, with a strong focus on rural and high‑need areas. I’ll work with local governments, tribes, and nonprofits to repair aging homes, preserve affordable housing, prevent homelessness, and support first‑time homebuyers.
What is your position on allowing public funds to be directed to non-public education?
I oppose diverting public dollars away from public schools into private or non‑public systems. Public funds should support accountable public education that serves every child, regardless of zip code, income, or background. I support strong public schools, fair funding, and targeted innovations within the public system—not vouchers that weaken neighborhood schools and deepen inequities.
What are your views on the current voting methods and access to voting in North Dakota?
I believe North Dakota’s current voting system strikes a good balance between access and security. Our no‑registration process, paper ballots, voter ID requirements, and options to vote early, by mail, or on Election Day give people multiple secure ways to participate. I’m open to practical improvements that keep voting both accessible and trustworthy.
What is the role of the federal government regarding states’ rights, and are there currently any areas where you believe there is an imbalance?
I believe the federal government should set clear national standards for rights, security, and the economy, while respecting the Constitution’s promise that most everyday decisions belong to the states. Sometimes one‑size‑fits‑all rules and grants limit North Dakota’s flexibility. I support a healthier balance where Washington sets broad goals and North Dakotans, through our state and local leaders, decide how to meet them in our communities.
