What are your top priorities?
My family and the well being of my community. The health and wellness of everyone in our state and making sure we have a North Dakota for our grandchildren to enjoy.
How would you ensure that North Dakotans’ healthcare costs are affordable?
I think healthcare across the entire country is broken. Whether is is the raising costs of copays and deductibles, staffing issues in urban/rural areas or the closing of rural clinics and hospitals. Paired with the lack of incentive for preventative care in our current ideology of healthcare. I believe we need to take a long look at every aspect of our current healthcare system. I believe there should be a state sponsored examination of health care options in our state.
How would you address the housing needs of the state?
Housing is one of the largest problems currently in ND. The cost of housing is only going up and the inventory of affordable homes is few and far between. There are lots of ideas on how to handle this which is why I have been reaching out to everyone involved. From builders, to local government, housing authority, and state officials. I don’t have the answers yet, but I am determined to find solutions to make owning a home attainable for North Dakotans.
What is your position on allowing public funds to be directed to non-public education?
I am honestly not a fan of having public funding given to private schools who are not required to follow the same rules as their public counterparts. With how stretched the current public school budgets are I don’t see how limiting their funding would help them.
What are your views on the current voting methods and access to voting in North Dakota?
I believe that North Dakota has a robust voting system. I also believe that North Dakota’s voter system also does an amazing job of making sure only eligible votes are allowed to vote. A system that is updated almost daily to keep it accurate.
What is the role of the federal government regarding states’ rights, and are there currently any areas where you believe there is an imbalance?
It is the role of the federal government to respect states rights.
