What policies or initiatives would you support to improve housing affordability in Nevada?
I believe the Nevada Treasury has a responsibility to lean in on priorities that shape our quality of life, and housing affordability is at the top of that list. Initially, I would work to ensure that any previously allocated housing funds are deployed efficiently and transparently, so infrastructure projects and attainable housing developments can access financing without unnecessary delays. I would champion stronger partnerships with local governments, community lenders, and nonprofit developers to help lower construction and infrastructure costs. I would also support programs that assist first‑time homebuyers through down‑payment support and financial education, giving more Nevada families a fair shot at stability and homeownership.
What changes, if any, would you support to the Medicaid program in Nevada, and why?
As a Nevadan with two retired parents, I understand the real challenges many seasoned Nevadans face in accessing affordable, reliable healthcare. I believe the Nevada Treasury plays an important role in strengthening the financial foundation of Medicaid. I would support transparent, responsible management of Medicaid, along with efforts to expand provider participation so seniors and families can access the care they’re eligible for. I would back improvements in care coordination, preventive services, and administrative efficiency to keep people healthy and our system sustainable. My goal is to help ensure Medicaid remains stable, accessible, and responsive to the needs of Nevada families, especially the seniors who helped build this state.
What are your views on state-funded or state-supported childcare programs, and why?
As someone who studied access to early childhood education during my doctorate at UNLV, I’ve seen firsthand how essential affordable, high‑quality childcare is for families and the economy. I believe state‑funded and state‑supported childcare programs are a smart investment in both children and working parents. As treasurer, I would support efforts to ensure these programs are funded transparently and sustainably, while strengthening partnerships with local providers and community organizations to expand access. Reliable childcare helps parents stay in the workforce, supports employers, and gives children the strong start they deserve.
