Your address indicates you live within the town limits of Irmo.POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Town of Irmo, located in both Lexington and Richland County, has a nonpartisan council form of government, including the mayor and 4 council members who serve 4-year terms. The mayor and council members have equal votes and are responsible for setting policy, enacting laws, and appointing a Chief Executive Officer to manage the day-to-day operations of the town. To serve as Mayor or Council Member a person must be a resident of the town, at least 18 years of age and registered to vote.EARLY VOTING: If you prefer to vote prior to June 3rd, you can vote during a two-week early voting period, beginning Monday, May 19 and ending Friday, May 30, from 8:30 to 5:00. I decided to run for Irmo Town Council because I care deeply about the future of our town. Over the years, I’ve seen both the strengths and challenges in our town—whether it’s managing growth, supporting local businesses, or ensuring public safety. I’m committed to being a strong voice for residents, listening to their concerns, and working collaboratively to make Irmo an even better place to live. This isn’t about politics for me—it’s about people, community, and doing the right thing.”
2. What are your thoughts on the Vision 2035 Comprehensive Land Use Plan for Irmo?
As a candidate for Irmo Town Council, I view the Vision 2035 Plan as a foundational document that will shape the town's future. I am committed to ensuring that development aligns with the community's values and needs. This includes advocating for infrastructure improvements, fostering economic growth, and preserving the unique character of Irmo. I believe that with thoughtful planning and community involvement, Irmo can navigate its growth in a way that benefits all residents.
3. What are your priorities for action by Town Council?
Some of my priorities would be ensuring our police and emergency services have the resources they need to keep Irmo safe, while also building strong community relationships. I want to see that growth managed responsibly. That means investing in roads, sidewalks, parks, and public spaces—without losing the character of our town. I want to make Irmo a place where entrepreneurs can thrive through fair policies, clear communication, and town support. another priority for me I’ll advocate for clear communication from Town Council and more opportunities for public input. And finally, I want to expand recreational programs, support community events, and make sure Irmo remains a welcoming, connected town for families and individuals of all ages.”

Member of the Irmo Planning Commission since 2022. Volunteered to serve on the Steering Committee for the Town's Comprehensive Land Use Plan update, completed and approved by Council in 2025. Retired from SCANA in 2022, career in Audit and Information Technology. Last position Manager of IT Business Applications at VC Summer Nuclear Station. I will bring a business approach to the Town. I understand the importance of accurate budgeting and ensuring project requirements are understood.

I believe effective local government requires dedicated, ethical and informed leaders. I understand the importance of clearly presenting information timely and accurately to constituents. I will apply my business experiences to support the integrity and reasonable growth in Irmo.
2. What are your thoughts on the Vision 2035 Comprehensive Land Use Plan for Irmo?
The updated Plan, approved by Town Council in November 2025 covers the required 10 elements: Population, Housing, Natural Resources, Cultural Resources, Economic Development, Transportation, Priority Investment, Community Facilities, Land Use, and Public Safety. It is the Town's vision for growth. I believe Town Administration developed a very good Plan.
I was fortunate to participate on the Vision 2035 Comprehensive Land Use Plan Steering Committee. We reviewed The Plan's detailed development. The Steering Committee provided comments through its development.
On the Planning Commission I will use Vision 2035 for: zoning and annexation requests, revisions to Irmo Municipal codes. I will do the same on Town Council.
3. What are your priorities for action by Town Council?
My priorities are supporting:
Initiatives to keep Irmo residents and visitors safe. Working with Town and County Law Enforcement to ensure concerns are heard and actions taken.
The Town's budgeting process to ensure expenditures are funded without placing a burden on residents. Budgets are not open ended.
The Town's plan to build a new Town Hall, cost $5.8 million. I will ensure funding exists, requirements understood and status communicated timely.
Vision 2035 and its guidance when receiving requests for annexation or development affecting the Town.
Strengthening Town's relationship with County Administrations and elected officials covering our priorities for safe and reliable infrastructure: roads, water and sewer.

Qualifications
Irmo has been my home since 2016. As Chair of the Irmo Okra Strut Commission and a PTA leader, I know leadership means showing up, listening, and delivering. I’m focused on smart growth, strong infrastructure, and protecting Irmo’s small-town feel. I bring experience in cybersecurity, teaching technology to older adults, and small business operations. Through my service, I am already putting my energy, experience, and heart to work for Irmo's future, but I can do more by serving on Town Council.
1. What prompted you to run for Irmo Town Council?
I was not planning to run for Town Council, but after recent events, friends, neighbors, and community leaders asked me to step up. I love Irmo: the people, the spirit, and the small-town character that makes it special. I have been serving our community since 2018, leading efforts like the Irmo Okra Strut and advocating for our schools. When the community I love needed someone willing to listen, lead, and work hard, I knew I had to answer the call. I am running to protect what makes Irmo great, to plan smart for our future, and to ensure every voice has a place at the table.
2. What are your thoughts on the Vision 2035 Comprehensive Land Use Plan for Irmo?
I support the Vision 2035 Comprehensive Land Use Plan. It reflects what residents want Irmo to be: a safe, distinctive, and welcoming community. The plan balances protecting Irmo's small-town feel with encouraging smart, responsible growth. It prioritizes infrastructure, roads, and public safety, which are essential to support future development without overwhelming our town. I believe Vision 2035 provides a strong guide for shaping Irmo’s future. I will work to make sure it is not just a plan on paper, but a living document that adapts to our needs while staying true to the community's values.
3. What are your priorities for action by Town Council?
My priorities are clear. First, we must address infrastructure by improving our roads, water systems, and public services to keep up with growth. Second, we need to manage growth responsibly by making sure development follows smart planning and protects Irmo’s character. Third, I want to encourage engagement in the community by leveraging technology to make it easier for every voice to be heard. Good leadership listens first, acts carefully, and plans for big picture. I am committed to continuing to work with residents, businesses, and local leaders to make sure Irmo remains a great place to live and raise a family. Finally, I want to promote the good in Irmo by starting a Heart of Irmo program that recognizes people that make Irmo awesome!
