What are the most pressing challenges facing New Jersey in 2025, and how do you propose to address them?
New Jersey’s top challenges are affordability, sustainability, and restoring trust in government. I support raising the minimum wage to reflect the needs of working families in an inflationary environment, incentivizing shared municipal services to lower property taxes, and expanding affordable housing (where possible) so families and seniors can thrive. I’ll fight for a nurse safe staffing law, and protect patients while holding insurers accountable with surprise billing. To protect public schools, I oppose privatization and will advocate to update the school funding formula to reflect real costs and constraints like the 2% property tax cap. I support investments in clean energy and infrastructure to create jobs and reduce emissions and excessive traffic. I’ll work to end ballot manipulation, advocate for term limits, and expand public financing to reduce pay-to-play politics. New Jersey must be more self-sustaining and people-focused—it's time for bold, transparent leadership.
What reforms do you support to improve New Jersey’s democracy?
Trust in government is eroded when transparency is lacking. I advocate for ending ballot manipulation practices. Although some changes to the county line balloting system were initiated, we need a truly fair ballot that embraces parity among candidates without preferential positions or bracketing. Candidates should be elected because of their values and vision—not their position on the ballot or solely due to close association with political party committees. I support streaming legislative sessions to increase public access and ensuring that NJ government operates openly and fairly. To reduce pay-to-play politics, I also support implementing a campaign funding matching program, setting reasonable contribution caps, and enacting legislative term limits to restore public trust and level the playing field. Addressing these challenges requires collaborative efforts and a deep commitment to equity and justice. It also requires the collective effort of the people to step up and serve.
How do you plan to strengthen and support New Jersey’s economy?
The high cost of living, particularly property taxes, burdens many New Jersey residents. Seniors should have the ability to age in place and continue to be a part of the vibrant communities that they helped to build. I propose incentivizing municipalities to share services and personnel, reducing redundancies, and lowering property taxes. Additionally, expanding and incentivizing affordable housing initiatives (where possible) will help our seniors and working families find stable, cost-effective homes. As federal funding becomes increasingly unstable, New Jersey must become more self-sustainable—we need to innovate at the state and local levels to strengthen our economic resilience and ensure essential services are protected.
What steps, if any, will you take to ensure equitable funding and support for public education?
Education is the foundation of our future, yet many New Jersey schools—especially in under-resourced and economically marginalized communities—face chronic underfunding and deep resource disparities. I oppose privatization efforts that divert public dollars from districts already struggling under a flawed funding formula, rising healthcare costs, and the constraints of the 2% property tax cap. Families—including mine—have made sacrifices to live in vibrant communities that value strong public schools, and pulling funding risks undermining both educational equity and neighborhood stability. I respect that some families choose private education for various reasons, but public dollars must remain committed to strengthening public schools for all. I support fully funding and adjusting the school aid formula and am open to innovative solutions that expand access without weakening local school budgets or deepening inequities. Public school students and teachers deserve our full support.
What immigration policies do you support?
I support the Immigrant Trust Act because it makes New Jersey safer, fairer, and more inclusive. This bill ensures local agencies focus on serving communities—not enforcing federal immigration laws—so that all residents can access healthcare, schools, and justice without fear. It protects sensitive locations like schools and hospitals, strengthens public safety by building trust between immigrant communities and law enforcement, and prevents the misuse of state resources. As a healthcare provider and public education leader, I’ve seen how fear undermines health, learning, and safety. Building trust with local law enforcement is essential to reducing adversarial relationships and ensuring every resident feels safe coming forward when they need help. New Jersey must be a state where all people, regardless of status, are treated with dignity and allowed due process of law.
