Affordability is a critical issue. I support the following measures: 1) A cap on rent increases across the state similar to what I have supported and implemented in Hoboken; 2) Representation for Tenants in eviction proceedings; 3) Support the implementation of the 2024 Affordable Housing Law which requires tens of thousands of low to moderate income, low income, and very low income housing in New Jersey to be built. In Hoboken, I recently championed the largest City Council approval of low and low and moderate income housing construction in Hoboken in over 30 years; 4) I would support increasing the minimum wage in New Jersey to $20/hour to reflect the reality of what a living wage in our state looks like; 5) Work to pass the Climate Super Fund Act and 6) Given possible cuts in Medicaid, which is utilized by over 24% of residents in Hudson County, I would support protecting and strengthening New Jersey FamilyCare

I support the NJ Empowerment Act and same day voter registration. We need to reverse the 2024 changes to OPRA and reinstate readily available and accessible records and make it easier for the public to be informed about what we are doing in Trenton. We need to remove arbitrary fees, restore the town’s obligation to pay attorney’s fees, and create an independent appeals board.

Finally, The 2023 Election Transparency Action opened the floodgate for outside dark money groups to spend in elections and significantly weakened pay for play laws. We need legislation that requires timely and transparent reporting of PAC money and gives ELEC more teeth to fine candidates who are not in compliance.

New Jersey’s economy is strong when local families can live, play and work in New Jersey. We need to continue to fight for a $20 minimum wage, strengthen union protections and fully fund the state workers' pension payments as outlined in the New Jersey Constitution.

We also need to fight for small businesses in our community to ensure that they are able to overcome the next level of tariffs.

Finally we need to stop the regular reallocation of NJ Transit’s capital budget, the Clean Energy Fund, and pension funds to cover budget shortfalls.

We need to recalculate our school funding formula to stop the massive tax raises that Jersey City and other cities in the state felt and ensure that the new formula considers second language learners and low income students served in the district. The School Development Authority also needs to be prioritized to renovate crumbling buildings and construct new schools in our fastest growing population centers like this district. Finally we need to continue to support our educators and make sure that there’s enough workforce housing so they can afford to live where they work.

The Immigrant Trust Act needs to be passed this session and the Legislature needs to holistically support migrants and work with local nonprofits and community groups to make sure they have the budget needed to cover the expanded need we are facing.

Cost of living and housing are the two most important issues facing the 32nd District. In the past three years, taxes in Jersey City skyrocketed because of a broken school funding formula. 1. We need to revisit the school funding formula to better account for urban areas with a high percentage of low-income students and English language learners. 2. Strengthen rent control laws, lowering the exemption period for newly constructed units from 30 to 15 years or less. Create a state statute that defines “unconscionable” rents to protect tenants without rent control. 3. Increase transparency, accountability, and service at NJ Transit and the Port Authority. This includes increasing weekend and rush hour train frequency and operations upgrades to the bus service.

I support the NJ Empowerment Act and I will continue to fight for fair ballots in this post-line world. If elected, I will work to pass same-day voter registration in New Jersey.

There are three steps that we need to take to fight for working families' economic well-being. We need to increase the minimum wage to $20 an hour. Additionally, we need to index the minimum wage for inflation and end the exemptions that were included in the original $15 minimum wage bill.

All workers deserve the same rights and protections as state workers. If elected, as a legislator, I will work to pass the strongest legislation to supplement the Labor Parity Act for all union workers and work with my colleagues to ensure that the Department of Labor has enough resources to staff and enforce the law.

Finally, we need state legislatures to critically think about ways to protect New Jersey families and our state’s economy in the economic unrest the Trump Administration is creating.

We need to recalculate our school funding formula to account for low-income students and second language learners to make our education dollars more equitable. We also need to fully fund schools as well as the School Development Authority so they can fulfill their 5-year strategic plan, renovate and modernize our aging schools, and construct new schools in fast-developing areas. Finally, we need to continue to support our educators and make sure that there’s enough workforce housing so they can afford to live where they work.

The NJ legislature needs to prioritize the Immigrant Trust Act this legislative term. We also need to critically evaluate what resources local immigrant nonprofits need to protect our immigrant community, including a deportation defense fund. With the passage of the Language Access legislation, I will continue to advocate for fair and accountable implementation. For NJ’s Budget, we need to ensure that the NJ Attorney General’s Office has enough resources to take the Trump Administration to court.

The housing crisis is the number one issue in my district. So many families make too much to qualify for subsidized housing, but also cannot afford the luxury high rises popping up all across the state. That's why I introduced a bill to create incentives for moderate-income housing developments, and a bill to curb corporate hedge funds from buying up single-family homes - in addition to a bill protecting tenants from predatory landlords.

Public transit is also a top issue, and we all know the frustration of a canceled train. I am committed to keeping 100% of the Corporate Transit Fee allocated to NJ Transit as intended. These funds will help address necessary repairs, and also help stabilize fare increases for riders are already reeling from the 15% jump. I have also liaised between my constituents and NJ Transit as well as the Port Authority to relay their asks and communicate back with answers. I am committed to continuing this partnership and to working to see improvements.

As someone who came to New Jersey as a child knowing no English, I know the importance of civic empowerment. Democracy works best when it includes all of us—and I’m committed to ensuring every voice is heard. We are lucky to live in a progressive state with strong voter protections, in addition to access to early voting and vote by mail. However, we can do better. I support automatic and same-day voter registration, as I am a co-sponsor of A925. I also support greater transparency in campaign finance as I believe voters deserve to know who is funding our elections, and also allow working class candidates to have a fair shot against candidates funded by corporations.

New Jersey's economy is thriving - but not for the middle and working class. We strengthen our economy with a ground up approach. We partner with unions to ensure fair, livable wages and safe working conditions. We support our small businesses, as they are the backbone of our economy. We address our housing crisis and get affordability under control. I’ve fought to hold bad employers accountable throughout my career, and I am a strong advocate for legislation that protects working families. I’ll continue pushing for good-paying union jobs, expanding job training, and investing in infrastructure that connects people to opportunity.

As a product of public schools and the Educational Opportunity Fund, and the daughter of a union school maintenance worker, I’m passionate about public education. I support fair funding for all districts, especially those historically under-resourced. I sponsored a bill for my district that would create an administrative and enforcement mechanism for corporate taxes to be paid towards our public schools. I’ll advocate for more funding for bilingual and special education, mental health support, and safe school facilities. Education is the key to equity, and we must invest in every child—regardless of their zip code, income level, or immigration status. And I have joined my other Jersey City colleagues in the Legislature in vowing to vote down the budget if they include the prospective $4 million cut to Jersey City schools.

As someone who immigrated to the mainland U.S. as a child, I understand the barriers immigrant families face. I was also the Managing Attorney for the Immigration Program at Catholic Charities. Because of my personal and professional experience with this issue firsthand, I am unwavering in my support of immigrants. I am a staunch advocate of the Immigrant Trust Act. I have also conducted multiple Know Your Rights seminars to educate people about how to defend and protect themselves in the face of a hostile federal administration. Immigrants are essential to New Jersey’s culture and economy—we must protect their rights and ensure they are treated with dignity and respect.
