What are the most pressing challenges facing New Jersey in 2025, and how do you propose to address them?
As a practicing physician, I will always fight for women to maintain reproductive freedom and make sure the right to choose is always protected in New Jersey. Reproductive healthcare is a priority issue because it is fundamental to personal freedom, bodily autonomy, and health equity. Every individual should have the right to make private healthcare decisions without government interference, including decisions about contraception, pregnancy, and abortion.
The cost of living has also continued to rise with no clear explanation, which is unacceptable. As a state, we need to focus on long-term affordability goals by passing legislation that directly addresses the concerns we are hearing in our communities.
To cut down on rising costs, I will continue the fight for affordability by sponsoring common-sense and bipartisan legislation that puts New Jersey taxpayers first, including property tax relief programs, lowering prescription drug costs, and expanding access to healthcare.
What reforms do you support to improve New Jersey’s democracy?
As a working mom, I know how busy life can get. Between school drop-offs, work, being a legislator, and everything in between, finding time to vote on a single day isn’t always easy. That’s why upholding accessible voting options like by mail or early is so important. It gives parents, seniors, people with disabilities, and anyone else who wants the flexibility to vote to sit down, take the time to review the ballot, and make thoughtful decisions about who to vote for without the stress of rushing to the polls on Election Day. Vote-by-mail and voting early makes voting more accessible, more practical, and more family-friendly, and that’s a win for our democracy.
How do you plan to strengthen and support New Jersey’s economy?
Economic development is a priority issue because it’s the foundation for building strong communities, creating job opportunities, and improving the overall quality of life for residents. In today’s competitive landscape, we need to ensure that New Jersey remains an attractive place for businesses to invest, grow, and hire. To address this, I would focus on creating a stable, business-friendly environment by streamlining regulations (A2296, A5593), modernizing infrastructure (A4572, A4509), and offering targeted incentives for industries that bring long-term, high-quality jobs to our state (S3275, S2825), such as clean energy, technology, and advanced manufacturing. I am proud to have supported and encouraged film production in Monmouth County by helping to facilitate bringing a state-of-the-art Netflix production facility to Fort Monmouth, which will provide thousands of jobs to NJ and support the local economy.
What steps, if any, will you take to ensure equitable funding and support for public education?
As a mom, I see firsthand how education is the foundation to prepare our children for opportunity, equity, and long-term economic success. A strong education system prepares students not only to succeed but to become informed, engaged citizens. When we invest in education, we’re investing in the future of NJ. To address this, I would fight for funding for our public schools to ensure every student has access to high-quality teachers, up-to-date resources, tutoring programs for learning loss post-COVID, and safe environments. I would also prioritize upholding and expanding on legislation that has already been passed, such as early childhood education, special education, mental health services, and after-school programs that keep kids engaged and on track. New Jersey has the best public education in the country, and making sure school districts are properly funded is paramount. Our team will work across the aisle to pass more common-sense solutions to school funding issues.
What immigration policies do you support?
Immigration is a key driver of our economy, and the policies I support focus on harnessing the positive impact immigrants have on job creation, innovation, and economic growth. Immigrants are critical to many sectors of the workforce and contribute significantly to our economy, especially in industries that face labor shortages.
While I am a state official and don’t have control over federal immigration policy, I strongly support creating fair and accessible pathways to citizenship. When we provide opportunities for hardworking individuals and families to fully participate in our communities, we strengthen our economy, our democracy, and our shared future.
