What skills and experience do you bring to school board service?
I’m a Salem mom, workforce development leader, and lifelong volunteer with deep roots in the district. As the parent of a child with disabilities, I’ve navigated the system firsthand. I bring a heart for students, a drive for results, and real-world problem-solving experience.
What is your understanding of the District’s obligations to comply with federal and state education policies?
The district must follow laws that ensure access and achievement—but compliance must be paired with actual, meaningful results for students. That includes meeting much higher standards than we have now for special education, safety, and academic performance.
How would you address the issues facing the District’s schools that you consider the most urgent?
We need to focus on the fundamentals. Too many students are falling behind in reading and math, especially those with special needs. I’ll prioritize early literacy, better academic support, and accountability. Our schools must be safe—for students and staff—which means consistent behavior standards and stronger safety systems, including resource officers where appropriate. I’ll also expand career-connected learning so students graduate not just with a diploma, but with the confidence and skills to thrive in work or college.
