B.A. in Communications from Biola University. Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) by the International Economic Development Council. Oregon Coast Community College Board Member for 22 years. Member of the Samaritan North Lincoln Hospital Board of Directors for 25 years. Member of the Lincoln County Extension Service Advisory Council for 20 years. Member of the Yaquina Bay Economic Foundation Board of Directors for 29 years. I take my board service very seriously, and am honored to serve.

What are your highest-priority goals if elected?
1 Successful groundbreaking and completion of OCCC's new Oregon Coast Advanced Technology & Trades facility as a multi-use, flexible space for trades and technology education that meets the needs of Lincoln County employers and students--completion on-time & on-budget.
2 On-time and on-budget completion of campus improvements included in last year's bond.
3 A smooth and successful re-accreditation process in 2026 (these happen every 7 years; this will be OCCC's 1st).
4 Keeping tuition as affordable as possible for our students.
5 Ongoing & strengthened connections between OCCC and the county's K-12 students.
6 Continue budgeting work in support of OCCC's financial goals.
7 Strongly support our administration, faculty, staff, & students.
What relevant skills and experience would you bring to the board?
I have significant experience in serving as a board member. Currently, four of OCCC's seven board members have served fewer than two years on the OCCC Board of Education. Re-accreditation panelists look for continuity on community college boards, and consider this in their deliberations.
Thanks to Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, I was able to take dual-credit classes in high school, as well as courses at UCC's campus. As a result, when I graduated from Roseburg High School, I was already a college sophomore, allowing me to graduate with my bachelor's in three years. This very positive experience fuels my passion for community college education. I am thrilled LCSD students now have the same opportunity to earn college credits.
How, if at all, would you redistribute resources between Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and programs to prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions?
I believe very strongly in supporting all OCCC students in achieving their dreams, whether those dreams are in CTE, or in earning an Associate's or Bachelor's degree, a degree for transfer, or in preparing them for graduate studies, or in taking Community Education coursework for lifelong learning and fun.
I reject the notion of pitting one course of study against another for funding--all paths to career/technical and higher education are equally deserving.

As a young mother, married to a military member, she continued her post secondary education at Community Colleges in California. She earned an Associates degree at Victor Valley Community College and then articulated to the University of Redlands, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration . She attended Chapman University, where she earned a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. At Azusa Pacific University she earned a second master’s degree in special ed.
