What skills and experience do you bring to school board service?
I have served my community as an advocate for many years. In that time I have learned a great deal of skills that would be invaluable to school board service. While serving with non-profit boards I've learned how to make decisions in a group, how to review financial reports, and how to carefully work to coordinate events with a diverse group of people.
As a volunteer I have learned the process of both writing and scoring grant materials, have learned to listen to community input using a wide range of methods, and have helped to create opportunities for kids in my community.
What is your understanding of the District’s obligations to comply with federal and state education policies?
That it is one of our our duties to do so even if you have a personal grievance with one of those mandatory policies.
How would you address the issues facing the District’s schools that you consider the most urgent?
By never voting yes for book banning. By never letting my personal bias get in the way of making decisions that are best for all students in my district. By focusing on effective and worthwhile policy and expecting the same from those I serve with. By listening to the community, our administrators and teachers, and our students to vote in a way that serves the most good for our amazing town.
