Biographical Information

Your Experience/Qualifications I have served the people of Lane County for nearly 50 years starting with 20 years as Lane County commissioner

What are your highest-priority goals if elected?

I want to maintain excellence at LCC in a changing environment. Our biggest challenge will be to balance the budget while holding down tuition cost, and maintaining excellent faculty. I will work to forge unity among LCC board members.

What relevant skills and experience would you bring to the board?

I have served on many boards and commissions. I have learned to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. I am a creative problem solver. DLC board is fractured and divided I will work to bring the board together.

How, if at all, would you redistribute resources between Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and programs to prepare students for transfer to four-year institutions?

We need both and we do not have to sacrifice either. One approach that might be useful is to form consortiums between other community colleges in order to offer high-quality affordable classes that are currently out of reach.
