What is your understanding of the District’s obligations to comply with federal and state education policies?

The District is obligated to comply with long standing federal and state laws that guide the type and quality of our students' education. Each District also has an obligation to be dedicated to providing innovative educational strategies to assure that every student feels they belong in their school community and has access to the services, education and accommodations they need to be successful throughout school and into their future.

How would you address the issues facing the District’s schools that you consider the most urgent?

Certainly in these times of budget uncertainties we will need to continue to be creative and nimble, while assuring our budget reflects our district's visioning goals. We need to continue to improve our curriculum to assure it is rigorous, relevant & engaging, includes CTE programs, and that attendance continues to increase. We need to assure a culture where every student feels they are safe, seen, heard, and they belong in our schools so they can learn to their full potential. We also need to engage community support and pass a bond measure to assure that we have safe, warm and dry schools for our students to be able to focus on their education.
