What skills and experience do you bring to school board service?

My experience in education spans over twenty years. I have worked for large universities, independent schools, and small start-ups. I am a parent to three children in the district and a committed community member and volunteer. My experience in community engagement and higher education administration equips me with the skills essential for leadership on the school board.

What is your understanding of the District’s obligations to comply with federal and state education policies?

It is our District's obligation to follow the guidelines set by the state. I believe in the state's autonomy in determining its policies. I believe that the states must be able to govern without fear of losing federal support for standing up to federal mandates.

How would you address the issues facing the District’s schools that you consider the most urgent?

Our district will be facing many challenges over the next four years. My top priorities are: Belong – our students deserve an educational environment where they feel respected and supported. Our staff and faculty make our schools great. We must support them and continue to encourage innovative thinking. Prepare – It is imperative that our students can graduate with the skills and tools needed to achieve their goals while also learning how to be positive members of their communities. Inspire – our programming offers students opportunities to be motivated and passionate. Students that are excited about what they are learning are excited to come to school and excited about their futures.
