What skills and experience would you bring to this position?
I’m running for the SPRD Board to help guide the organization as it enters the next phase of providing our town with recreation opportunities. I bring over 20 years of experience in strategic planning, fundraising, and community development, but my passion is community engagement. Without community support and involvement, change can’t happen effectively. I want to draw on the existing talents and insights of the Sisters community, both individually and professionally, to bring those great minds to the table as SPRD grows.
Do you think there are ways the District’s facilities could generate revenue that are not currently being explored—and if so, what are they?
SPRD can partner with Sisters-based businesses, fitness professionals, creatives, and other community members to provide a wider array of programming to meet the needs of Sisters Country residents. We have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create a center that welcomes everyone, provides recreational and athletic activities for residents of all ages, offers creative and interesting classes, and supports families through education-based preschool, summer camps, and more.
What are the most pressing needs for the District that you would like to address?
SPRD is at a crossroads with the opportunity to build an exciting new collection of programs and offerings. As SPRD moves into the former elementary school, we have an opportunity to create a community center that functions as an important new activity hub for residents of all ages.
