Public school administrator in 5 school districts, OR, NY, CA. Active in professional organizations in 3 states. Education Consultant, 3 technology companies, last one, ETS.
Currently on Bend-La Pine School Board, elected 2021 to a 4-year term; seeking re-election.
What is your understanding of the District’s obligations to comply with federal and state education policies?
Bend-La Pine School District is in compliance with local, state and federal policies regarding students, staff and partner organizations. It is our responsibility to ensure that policies are implemented and monitored.
How would you address the issues facing the District’s schools that you consider the most urgent?
Oregon is in process of increasing state funding to local districts, including support of marginalized student populations. Local levies are necessary to provide the level of education expected. Staff hiring and retainment are challenging with the local housing market and opportunities. The Board must stay in tune with these issues as an annual budget is presented and approved.
