What skills and experience would you bring to the board?
As a Naval Officer and helicopter pilot, I led teams in high-stakes environments and managed airport operations. As a Founder & Executive Director, I built a nonprofit, securing funding through partnerships, grants, and sponsorships. My work as an Environmental Consultant gives me expertise in permitting, dredging, and stakeholder engagement, ensuring economic growth aligns with sustainability. As a Bridge Authority Member, I’ve led tribal negotiations and NEPA permitting for major infrastructure projects. I bring leadership, strategic planning, and financial acumen to ensure the Port fosters job creation, smart development, and responsible stewardship.
What are your priorities for the upcoming term, and how would you address them?
My top priority is expediting the Hood River Bridge replacement while ensuring the safe operation of the current bridge. I will use my experience in NEPA permitting, funding navigation, and stakeholder negotiations to accelerate the replacement process and minimize delays. Keeping the existing bridge safe and operational is critical—I will advocate for necessary maintenance while working to secure funding for long-term solutions. By leveraging public-private partnerships and regulatory expertise, I will help ensure a smooth transition to a modern, reliable bridge that supports the region’s economic and transportation needs.
How would you prioritize the needs of the Port’s various users (e.g., industrial, commercial, recreational)?
I will prioritize the safety, efficiency, and long-term sustainability of the Port’s infrastructure to support all users. The bridge replacement is my top focus, ensuring a reliable crossing for commercial, industrial, and commuter traffic while maintaining safe operations for current users. I will advocate for balanced policies that support industrial growth and job creation, while also ensuring the marina and waterfront areas remain accessible for recreational use. By engaging stakeholders and using data-driven decision-making, I will help the Port serve diverse users while maintaining financial and environmental responsibility.
