Term 4-years

What relevant skills and experience do you bring to this position?

I have worked in public settings across 35 years. Currently, I am the Treasurer on the Board of Chamberlin House Inc., a residential program serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities . As a United Methodist Minister I worked with families navigating end of life issues, financial challenges, and the many joys and sorrows of being part of a community together. I brought these same skills to my work as a Special Ed bus driver. This is where I became aware of the important, and overlooked, work of the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD. Working with students, caring parents, grandparents, and, amazing teachers and Special Ed Assistants really taught me about the real fabric it takes to weave a community together.

What functions of the ESD are most important to you?

Our Linn Benton Lincoln ESD connects 12 school districts to fulfill the mandate to insure equitable education opportunities for all of the students across our three counties. As a Special Ed driver I saw this in action. Building a maintaining connections among our 12 component districts is most important to me.

How can the ESD better serve the area’s school districts?

I became aware of the work of the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD when I was driving a Special Ed bus. When I tell people about LBL ESD most folks have no idea what it is or what it does. When elected to the board I would seek to inform our communities about the work of, and the opportunities provided, by our LBL ESD.
