Town Meeting is responsible for passing a balanced annual town budget and enacts all town by-laws. An Annual Town Meeting is held in the spring to enact the following year s budget, plus whatever other matters are placed on the Town Meeting Warrant, either by the Select Board or by citizen petition. The Annual Town Meeting is usually held the last week in May or the first week in June. Biographical Data:
I was born and raised in Brookline and I have served as TMM for half a year. I am also an appointed member of the Parks and Recreation Commission. I played on both soccer and hockey teams while also enjoying nature programs in various parks. I am a graduate of Colby College in Maine and I am presently a graduate student at The Fletcher School for Diplomacy.
What three issues are most important to your constituents, and how would you address and/or resolve them?
1.
I am very concerned about Brookline's open spaces and parks. Preservation and programming are key. I want to ensure that kids continue playing, laughing, coming home dirty and importantly, learning in the great outdoors.
2.
I am also concerned about the beautiful trees that were planted generations ago, and are now being clear cut by developers who don’t care about the trees themselves, or the shade they provide. More trees, more owls, less rodents, more shade.
3. I am concerned about affordable housing in Brookline. I do not think that eliminating zoning practices like Cambridge is the solution. We need to build smart buildings.
