What skills and experience do you bring to the board?
As a parent within the community, I have directly benefitted from the services of my local library. I have a passion for the preservation of our libraries as an essential community resource. I have demonstrated years of dedicated service as a military veteran and a federal service worker. I have a strong educational background and have worked professionally as a public health professional for over 12 years.
What do you see as the role of libraries today, and what kinds of services do you consider important for the library to provide?
Libraries serve as a medium to accessible information and resources, for their local communities. As a valuable resource, libraries should provide equitable access to materials in support of literacy. To facilitate engagement, libraries should offer community-needed services like computer and internet access, public meeting space, early education programs, and career placement programs.
What do you see as the greatest challenges facing libraries today, and how would you address them?
Libraries, such as ours, have seen an increase in numbers served without an increase in funding to their pivotal programs.
