Examples include people’s utility districts, library districts, water districts, fire protection districts, and more. They are governed by a board of directors, which is responsible for management and financial accountability. Special districts are empowered to levy any necessary taxes and fees to fulfill their mandate. Board members are not paid but may receive a per diem reimbursement.Emergency communications manage the budgets for 911 and other communications hubs for first responders.Term: 4 years

What skills and experience, including prior board experience, would you bring to this position?
With 30 years as a firefighter and 24 years as a fire service board director (with leadership roles) at local, state, and national levels, I understand the vital role of a well-run 911 district. My knowledge of board governance and Oregon ORS will help address system needs.

How can the board improve responsiveness to the public?
There needs to be improved community outreach and communications to the public to learn what the 911 District is doing to provide the best posssible service level to the public and public safety personel.
What are the greatest challenges faced by the District in the upcoming term, and how would you address them?
To insure full staffing of the 911 operators.
To upgrade the existing 911 system to meet current needs
