The state Board of Education sets broader educational policies and standards that local schools are required to follow.Qualifications: Candidate must be a registered voter and a resident of the district for at least 1 year. Employees of the district are not eligible unless employed as a substitute driver. ORS 332.016 and 332.018(2)Term: 4 years

What skills and experience do you bring to school board service?
Taught Middle school for 20 years. 5 years in general education and 15 years in Special Education. Mentored teachers for two years and 3 years on the executive board of the teacher's union.
What is your understanding of the District’s obligations to comply with federal and state education policies?
School districts receive the bulk of their funding from federal and state agencies so it is their best interest to follow those policies as mandated. That being said, where autonomy and self rule is allowed we should do what's best for our students and overall district.
How would you address the issues facing the District’s schools that you consider the most urgent?
Based on my experience on the subject, I am able to bring in some past experience from another state and school district and possibly cite pro's and cons of those situations. I can also bring visions of successes in education witnessed from that experience
