What motivates you to run for a position on the Common Council?

The future of La Crosse motivates me to continue my journey on Council. It’s vital that our decisions consider not only the present but also the long-term impact on future generations. We have the power to shape the legacy we leave behind, and I am committed to fighting for what’s best for everyone. My love and passion for La Crosse drive me to see its potential and push us forward. I want to help make La Crosse a place where people choose to live, work, and thrive for many reasons!

Identify three important issues facing La Crosse that you would like to address/work on during your term as a member of the Common Council and briefly state your current thinking about each of them.

Housing:We need more housing of all types. I will continue supporting our Planning Department’s innovative work to break down past barriers that hinder meeting our current needs. Addressing homelessness remains a priority, and supporting the Pathways Home collaboration is vital for long-term solutions. Partnering these efforts with creating more housing opportunities and pursuing zoning changes already in progress is key. City Services:Over the past four years, tough decisions have impacted our constituents. It’s time to rethink our government structure to improve efficiencies. Saving small amounts where we can is helpful, but we need someone to lead transformative changes. Maintaining essential services like large item pickup is important, but our current budget structure makes funding them a challenge. Public Education:Educating constituents remains a priority. Streamlining services and making local government accessible is critical. By demystifying the process, we can empower reside

Aside from issues affecting the city, what specific concerns are important to the voters in your district?

The Kmart or Copper Rocks Development is a key topic in my district, and progress is being made. Updates are underway, and it will soon return to our agendas, exciting many residents. Safety is also a major concern, and I’m committed to improving street safety for everyone. While there are challenges and blind spots without easy answers, I will continue working on creative solutions to ensure we have safe, walkable neighborhoods for all.

How will you communicate with your district constituents and encourage their engagement with issues that affect our city?

I will maintain an open “door” policy, where you can email, call, text, or reach out to me anytime. I’ll continue using social media and attending neighborhood association meetings to educate on city issues. If elected, I’d like to implement a yearly or quarterly newsletter to further educate residents. I’ll also encourage signing up for City updates, such as following department pages and subscribing to the City Newsletter, to keep everyone informed and engaged.

What motivates you to run for a position on the Common Council?

Well, I have always worked in a customer service related job (I see the city council as a very important customer service job) and after being off the council the last 3 years I miss that hands on experience of helping people with issues involving the city, more importantly problems within district 7.

Identify three important issues facing La Crosse that you would like to address/work on during your term as a member of the Common Council and briefly state your current thinking about each of them.

#1Homelessness: I think we have to continue to move Pathways Home forward with LaCrosse County(and our other community partners) #2 Collaboration: I believe the city & county are working together better the last few years but we have to kick start the land agreement we had started w/Shelby, it would be good for both of us. Working together on issues with all of our neighbors is the way to go. #3 Listen to our residents…It seems like city hall has forgotten that our homeowners, renters, business owners are not being heard. I attend meetings and some council members just don’t hear what the taxpayers are saying, I believe we have to listen to our voters and put our personnel feelings aside. Thank you for taking the time to read this, thank you to the League of Women Voters and for all of the past support I have received.

Aside from issues affecting the city, what specific concerns are important to the voters in your district?

The big one is getting the Kmart site(Copper Rocks) off the ground. I believe people are excited for the development of the site and disappointed with the slow progress (I would work with them to see if we can get it going) Also, we have to solve the safety issues at the bridge down from the Cass street area to Cliffwood Lane to make it safe for drivers, walkers and people riding bikes.

How will you communicate with your district constituents and encourage their engagement with issues that affect our city?

I would encourage them to get involved with their neighborhood associations, come to city hall for meetings, mainly, just call me…I will return calls or emails asap. (If there was an important issue I would knock on the doors of those affected) to solve the problem.
