Reasons to Vote "For" and "Against" the Dallas Proposition
1. Most of the changes are technical changes needed to conform the Charter to state law and/or clarify language.
2. State law requires publication of city business in a print publication, and the city can expand this requirement via ordinance. The city publishes all notices on its website and in many newspapers. The requirement for publication in a print newspaper does not need to be in Charter.
3. Changing the term “citizen” to “resident” clarifies certain responsibilities such protection by the fire department and preference in letting contracts.

Reasons to Vote "For" and "Against" the Dallas Proposition
1. No reason not to approve most of these amendments.
2. The City is making an effort to include publication of notices of City business in minority publications but needs to make greater effort.
3. Some may not be comfortable changing references from “citizens” to “residents” or “people”
