Why are you the best candidate for this position? (750 characters)

I'm principled, authentic, honest, and when I see problems I work hard to solve them.

When ICE was impacting our community in January, I spoke out against it at the City Council meeting - the best my incumbent opponents could muster was "no comment."

When our police were helping ICE harass my fellow legal observers here in Burnsville, I crowd-sourced over 1,500 dash cams for other volunteers.

I lead a small team of observers at the airport the provided the community with the only accurate real-time count of how many people were being flown away by ICE from the Twin Cities.

When there were high profile cases of Minnesota children getting taken away by ICE, my public records request showed how Delta Air Lines was involved.

If elected, what will your top three priorities be and why? (500 characters)

Sensible trash hauling, so there aren't dozens of trucks from several companies going down our streets on garbage day.

Make sure our police don't get tangled up in political theater from the federal government and erode trust of our community - they should only work with federal law enforcement in specific, extraordinary circumstances.

Work alongside MPCA experts to clean out the historic landfills along the river to protect our best-in-area drinking water.

How do you plan to engage with and represent all members of our diverse community?(500 characters)

I have a track record of standing up for our community - when ICE was overrunning our city, I volunteered as a legal observer to help keep our neighbors safe. When our observers were hassled by local police, I crowd-sourced 1,500 dashcams to keep us safe.

I will listen, and enact just policy, for all of our community, regardless of how they get around, who they love or worship, or how they present themselves.

What steps will you take to ensure transparency and accountability in city government? (500 characters)

I am a big fan of transparency. I demand accountability at public meetings, and I'll never sign an NDA to hide controversial commercial development plans from the public.

With twelve years of experience on the Burnsville Advisory Commissions serving on both the Burnsville Economic Development Commission and the Planning Commission, including serving as chair on both commissions, I bring deep experience in shaping our city’s future. I helped create the Center Village Vision, contributed to the 2040 Comprehensive Plan, and worked with Council on other city-wide initiatives. I am an accountant by trade and my three years on the ISD 191 Finance Advisory Committee strengthened my fiscal insight into government budgeting and financing. I’ve built strong relationships with city staff, hold progressive values, and am fully committed to this role and am not using it as a stepping stone for higher office.

If elected, what will your top three priorities be and why? (500 characters)

My top priority for Burnsville is to help the MPCA remove the toxins at the Freeway Landfill and Dump which threaten the Minnesota River and nearby water wells. Another priority is revitalizing the Burnsville Center area using the principles we established in the 2019 Center Village Vision. Finally, I believe bringing a Community Center to the Burnsville Center will not only create a gathering place that strengthens our community but will also plant the seeds to drive broader redevelopment.

How do you plan to engage with and represent all members of our diverse community?(500 characters)

I prefer seeing each person as a unique individual, avoiding labels while recognizing diverse experiences and cultures. I want to engage our diverse community by listening, learning, and joining in celebrations, especially those that are from different cultures than mine. Everyone deserves to feel valued and included. My goal is to represent everyone with respect, understanding, and openness in the hopes that every resident feels seen, valued, and included in Burnsville’s future.

What steps will you take to ensure transparency and accountability in city government? (500 characters)

I will ensure transparency by being fully available and accountable for every vote I take. On controversial decisions I will always explain my vote. If you come before the council, I will show you the respect that you deserve; I won’t be on my phone or be typing on my computer. I will be engaged in listening to you, and you will have my full, undivided attention. Because my responsibility is to represent you and make decisions openly and honestly on what is best for the city of Burnsville.

Why are you the best candidate for this position? (750 characters)

I have dedicated the last 20 years to serving our community on the Burnsville City Council, consistently listening to citizens and providing common-sense solutions to move our city forward. Having served as a private business executive and former independent business owner, I offer the practical business background necessary to navigate the complex budget challenges facing cities today. Inflation has significantly increased costs, and my experience is vital in managing these fiscal pressures effectively. Furthermore, I am an unwavering supporter of our police and fire departments; I believe that long-term prosperity can only be achieved in a community where safety is the top priority.

If elected, what will your top three priorities be and why? (500 characters)

1. Public Safety: This has been my top priority since I first ran for office in 2006, as a successful city is defined by how safe it is to live and work. 2. Protecting Clean Parks & Clean Drinking Water for all generations. I believe we must leave our environment in better shape for generations to come. 3. Lowering Property Tax Levy: I fight every year to cut costs & find efficiencies to mitigate the inflation on taxpayers. I authored the idea to fund capital costs using 100% Franchise Fees.

How do you plan to engage with and represent all members of our diverse community?(500 characters)

I have met with leadership and larger group members of our Somali Community, and responded to all inquires to meet residents with respect. I took over the oldest Festival in Burnsville and immediately made changes to make it more inclusive by adding multicultural music, food, entertainment & prayer rooms I expanded the board with a member of the Spanish community and Somali communities as cultural liaisons to ensure we were always directly connected with these diverse members of our community.

What steps will you take to ensure transparency and accountability in city government? (500 characters)

For decades, our Worksessions were not on camera for the public to see and access. Once I was elected in 2006, one of the first things I did was advocate for, and successfully got them on camera as I felt strongly that government should always be transparent.

Why are you the best candidate for this position? (750 characters)

As a lifelong Burnsville resident and Burnsville High School graduate, I spent my formative years in this community and know it well. Today, I am raising my family here, operating a local independent insurance agency, and remaining deeply involved through coaching youth sports, serving with Burnsville Athletic Club programs, supporting William Byrne Elementary, and participating in community activities. In 2015, I was appointed to the Planning Commission, where I gained firsthand experience in how municipal government works and the importance of thoughtful community development. In 2018, I was elected to the City Council. My experience as a small business owner and public servant has strengthened my commitment to keeping Burnsville great.

If elected, what will your top three priorities be and why? (500 characters)

Public Safety – Residents want safe neighborhoods, strong emergency services, and continued investment in police and fire staffing and facilities. Fiscal Responsibility – Voters are concerned about rising costs and property taxes and want assurance that taxpayer dollars are being spent wisely. Growth & Redevelopment – Residents want thoughtful redevelopment, quality businesses, housing options, and long-term planning that strengthens Burnsville while preserving community character.

How do you plan to engage with and represent all members of our diverse community?(500 characters)

I believe effective representation starts with listening. As a small business owner, I work with and assist people from diverse backgrounds and cultures every day, including individuals and families from all over the world. Those interactions have taught me the importance of communication, respect, and understanding different perspectives. I engage with residents through community events, neighborhood meetings, local organizations, social media, and direct conversations. My responsibility is to

What steps will you take to ensure transparency and accountability in city government? (500 characters)

Transparency and accountability begin with open communication, accessible information, and meaningful public engagement. I support clear budget and financial reporting, public access to city information, and opportunities for residents to provide input before major decisions are made. My office also serves as a place where residents regularly stop in to discuss city issues, ask questions, and share concerns. My door is always open. Residents deserve to understand not only what decisions are made
