Biographical Information

What experience do you bring to this position?

I was an elected official of Bonneville County for twelve years as a Magistrate Judge. Prior to that I was a federal prosecutor and a Bonneville County prosecutor. I have recently entered the private practice of law. As a judge and an attorney, I have applied the law to complex questions. I have also made many decisions after hearing all the evidence and listening to all parties concerned. My decisions were rarely appealed, and the few times they were, my opinions were upheld by the Idaho Supreme Court. I know how to make difficult decisions that are respected and understood.

A lifetime of service in schools, church and government have equipped me to understand what is important to the citizens of Bonneville County.

What do you hope to accomplish if elected?

Bonneville County has been well run for decades. We are very fortunate to have had fiscally responsible and conservative leadership. I hope to follow in their footsteps and maintain our strong foundation.

I also hope to plan for the future; ten, twenty and fifty years ahead so that our children and grandchildren can enjoy the same wonderful community we do. I hope to build collaborative relationships with the cities and communities that are part of Bonneville County and that border us. In doing so, we can work together to address the issues involving infrastructure and public safety that come from the rapid growth we are experiencing.

What activities should Bonneville County be involved in to address population growth?

We need to actively address the issues that have come with our explosive growth; especially public safety and infrastructure.

I have a long record of collaborating with law enforcement as a prosecutor and as a judge. The relationships I have built over decades create a strong foundation for understanding and addressing the needs of law enforcement. Knowing how the justice system works is crucial to finding solutions for public safety.

The issue of roads and traffic are complex and require collaboration between cities, counties and the state. Because of my previous experience, I am well-equipped to continue the good work of our current commissioners, expand their relationships and build out projects that serve our citizens.

Is there anything else you wish to tell the voters?

I believe it is my experience that sets me apart from the other candidates. I have shown up at work every day for years in service to Bonneville County. You know you can rely on me to roll up my sleeves and get busy with the important issues facing our community. I already have working relationships with other elected officials and department heads. I am practiced in making difficult decisions based on complex facts and law. I would appreciate your vote on May 21!

What experience do you bring to this position?

Being a small business owner for nearly three decades has given me unique experiences that I feel have qualified me for the position of Bonneville County Commissioner. I have learned how to effectively communicate with my team members and clients, ensuring I am listening to all voices to guarantee the best possible solutions are being achieved. I have interacted with the public in our area for many years, and have enjoyed building relationships with the great people in our community. I have had to maintain the finances of both businesses and make decisions with long term goals in mind, because every dollar truly matters. Financial awareness, especially in budgeting, has been a critical skill I have gained that will serve me well.

What do you hope to accomplish if elected?

Once elected, my first priority will be to listen to the ideas and concerns of the people in our community, and continue to help them in any way I can. I plan to work closely with the other two county commissioners, as well as city officials, in order to maximize our potential for unity and growth. My goals are to focus on infrastructure that aligns with the growth our area is experiencing, support our law enforcement and other first responders, and to provide support to our agricultural community and continue the growth in the 4H program.

What activities should Bonneville County be involved in to address population growth?

We must tackle the challenges posed by our community’s rapid growth by enhancing infrastructure to accommodate it. Traffic congestion and road conditions are sources of understandable frustration. I firmly believe that change extends beyond the confines of the office. I am committed to personally inspecting the roads facing issues by identifying and driving them myself to gain firsthand insight into what actions are needed to address the issues effectively. I eagerly anticipate the chance to meet with those esteemed professionals that are heavily involved in this area of development and management to discuss their ideas, and to express my own as well.

Is there anything else you wish to tell the voters?

I want voters to know that I will work for the people. I will listen to you and take your thoughts and ideas into consideration when making decisions and implementing changes within our community. This community is our home, and you deserve to have a voice in what happens here. I want to ensure that the growth we are experiencing is addressed in a way that benefits all of us, and that law enforcement has the support they need to keep us all safe. We live in a wonderful community, and I'm committed to playing a dedicated role in maintaining its legacy of excellence.
