Idaho State Senator District 34 Choose 1

Idaho Senate members serve a 2-year term and are responsible for translating the public will into public policy for the state, levying taxes, appropriating public funds, and overseeing the administration of state agencies. These responsibilities are carried out through the legislative process — laws passed by elected representatives of the people, legislators.

Term (208) 351-3531

1. What do you hope to accomplish if elected?

I hope to stop extremism in Idaho by focusing on listening to citizens instead of special interest groups. I hope to turn the Idaho Legislature into a body that values public education and other public workers.

2. What experience has prepared you for this office?

I have been the chairperson for Madison County Democrats for the past 2 years. I have been a volunteer for collecting signatures for citizen initiatives since the Medicaid Expansion Act.

3 What do you see as the most significant challenges Idaho faces that you might be able to address in this position?

Idaho needs to re-elevate public education. We need to bring back respect and gratitude for educators. We need to fund schools in a way that promotes innovation instead of siphoning money away from schools. We need to stop extreme bills that promote government over reach.

4. Would you support legislation to remove criminal liability for physicians and pregnant women experiencing life threatening pregnancy complications and allow for medical and family decisions regarding continuation of that pregnancy? Please explain your response.

Yes. Health decisions should be made between a doctor and a patient. Government interference with professional decisions is Government overreach.

5. Is there anything else you would like to tell the voters?

Idaho needs to feel like a safe place for all citizens. When elected officials pass bills that make people feel unsafe, it is an indication that the government is representing special interest groups instead of representing the people. Idaho can do better.
