Idaho Senate members serve a 2-year term and are responsible for translating the public will into public policy for the state, levying taxes, appropriating public funds, and overseeing the administration of state agencies. 1. What do you hope to accomplish if elected?
Mr. Guthrie did respond to these 4 questions. We inadvertently deleted his answers. If anything could go wrong with this questionnaire, it did here. We will not repeat those mistakes and we apologize. We made a typographical error in setting up the contest, so the candidate responses for District 28 Senate were not in a set where candidate responses could be viewed side by and compared.
We had added a new question this year, about maternal health care, and accidentally sent the 2022 questions to Mr. Guthrie. When we discovered the 2 problems, we sent the new question to him, and he answered it. When we worked to combine the candidates into one Race, we accidentally deleted his previous responses. Several lessons were learned.

4. Would you support legislation to remove criminal liability for physicians and pregnant women experiencing life threatening pregnancy complications and allow for medical and family decisions regarding continuation of that pregnancy? Please explain your response.
Yes, I have been consistent and am on the record as being supportive of protection for physicians who are now placed in a very precarious position as they provide care. Further, I am adamant that women with complicating pregnancies should have reasonable medical options without fear of being entangled in legal jeopardy. The rights of those victims of rape and incest should have reasonable protection as well. They have already been through a life altering tragedy and should not be subject to a forced outcome because of an unspeakable act. Yes, I am prolife, but I consider the lives of moms, victims, and the livelihood of those who treat them to be consistent with policy that considers the value of all lives.

1. What do you hope to accomplish if elected?
I want to work with my fellow Democrats to forward legislation to improve the lives of all Idahoans in the areas of women's reproductive health care, library freedom and green environmental initiatives. I would work with the Republican majority to craft legislation that enriches the health and welfare of us all.
2. What experience has prepared you for this office?
In my 50 or so years of involvement with various candidates for local and national office I have observed from a volunteers position many successful and unsuccessful platforms and campaigns but this is my first run for office. I follow many news outlets on both sides of the aisle to try to keep an open mind on todays happenings.
3 What do you see as the most significant challenges Idaho faces that you might be able to address in this position?
As a state senator I would work to overturn the draconian women's health laws passed by the Republican majorities in the state legislature. Women's reproductive health decisions (in the main) should be made by themselves and their doctors. I wish that no women ever had to have an abortion but that is not the reality of our species.

Get out and vote. Request an absentee ballot if you can't get to the polls. Our republic will only endure if the people of our great country participate.
