Idaho State Representative District 26A Choose 1

Idaho House of Representatives members serve a 2-year term and are responsible for translating the public will into public policy for the state, levying taxes, appropriating public funds, and overseeing the administration of state agencies. 1. What do you hope to accomplish if elected?

My top three priorities: 1) I am determined to keep education vouchers or education tax credits out of this state. School vouchers violate our Idaho Constitution, and we’ve seen these programs quickly spiral out of control, decimating budgets in other states to subsidize private and religious schools. It is critical that we continue to hold this line. 2) I will continue to be actively involved in modernizing the water delivery and flood mitigation systems in our state, with various projects currently in the works. 3) I will continue to prioritize infrastructure investments and advocate for funding and supporting our schools so they can provide our students with the quality education they will need for the jobs of today and tomorrow.

2. What experience has prepared you for this office?

In addition to serving in the legislature for three years now, I’ve served on urban renewal boards, city council, and was Mayor of Bellevue for three years, as well as various local boards. I’m committed to serving my community, whether that’s locally or at the legislative level. I focus on bipartisanship and solving problems, not ideological posturing. I’ve held positions in various levels of state and local government and am deeply rooted in serving my community.

3. What do you see as the most significant challenges Idaho faces that you might be able to address in this position?

We continue to see explosive growth and must rise to the challenge of providing services, building infrastructure, and prioritizing our workforce for Idaho’s long-term success. As our population rises, we need to make sure our growth is coordinated and that we’re able to retain talented workers—including healthcare professionals and librarians.

4. Would you support legislation to remove criminal liability for physicians and pregnant women experiencing life threatening pregnancy complications and allow for medical and family decisions regarding continuation of that pregnancy. Please explain your response.

Absolutely. Since the Dobbs decision, Idaho has seen a mass exodus of reproductive care providers from doctors to nurses and every other care provider as well. We must stem this loss of skilled care to safeguard the lives of women and children. The legislature has far overstepped its boundaries and has endangered the health and well-being of women all across this state. I will continue to do everything I can to get the legislature and attorneys out of health care decisions best left to a doctor and patient.

5. What else would you like to tell the voters?

I decided to serve my community to find ways to improve the lives of Idahoans, and I see areas where our state government can do just that. I’m here to find solutions to the problems that impact us all: poor road conditions, rising property taxes, underfunded schools, and the costs associated with solving (and ignoring) those issues. There are effective ways to tackle our challenges, and they don’t involve partisanship or political theater. I will continue to work with all members of the legislature, industry, concerned citizens, and the executive branch to bring cost-effective solutions; that’s my promise.
