1. What do you hope to accomplish if elected?
I will be available and responsive to my district constituents. I want to restore fundamental rights as follows:
1. Access to voter rights in the form of the initiative process
and ability to vote easily.
2. Health care access to all citizens with particular emphasis
on reproductive rights and women's health.
3. Assurance of quality public schools and funding to
improve student outcomes.
4. Access to and improvement of emergency medical
services in rural areas.
2. What experience has prepared you for this office?
I have served and advocated for people my entire adult life and profession. I have participated in worker contract negotiations so understand what discussion and compromise can accomplish. I work as an Advanced EMT in a rural volunteer ambulance service in Idaho. I have been successful for responsible quality and budgeting in my positions in health care. For the past 3 years, I have been involved in grassroot efforts with Reclaim Idaho to bring pertinent issues to the voters when elected officials did not seem to listen.
3. What do you see as the most significant challenges Idaho faces that you might be able to address in this position?
Idaho residents voice frustration and concern with not having their concerns addressed or even heard. I repeatedly hear "I don't care and won't even vote because it doesn't matter". Voters have NO trust in their elected officials. I know my actions and visibility when elected will demonstrate voters are being heard and their participation in our democracy is important and worthwhile.
4. Would you support legislation to remove criminal liability for physicians and pregnant women experiencing life threatening pregnancy complications and allow for medical and family decisions regarding continuation of that pregnancy. Please explain your response.
My support on this topic is without hesitation. Having worked in this medical specialty, I know the angst and emotion involved with these decisions. It is a decision that should only be made by the woman, partner (if involved) and physician. The collateral damage of the current legislation in the loss of physicians as well as the difficulty or inability to recruit providers out of their fear of litigation, will affect ALL state residents for years to come.
5. What else would you like to tell the voters?
I have much to learn, but have no hesitance to learn and ask questions. I can admit when I am incorrect and change direction when indicated. I want to be part of a very necessary change in this state, to make it more equitable for all residents.
