1. What do you hope to accomplish if elected?
I will stand on guard as a warrior in defense of every citizen's God-given constitutional rights. I will support the Pro-Life effort and work to close the loopholes in our pro-life laws that allow abortions for rape and incest cases. I will also stand on guard against all wasteful government spending.
2. What experience has prepared you for this office?
I have forty-six years as a public servant at the federal, state, and local levels of government. I am a thirty-year retired USAF Colonel, aviator, and cobat veteran. I am also a retired Idaho law enforcement officer and senior Idaho state Senator. My formal training is in business management and administration as well as senior organizational leadership. My background is well suited to the position of state Senator.
3 What do you see as the most significant challenges Idaho faces that you might be able to address in this position?
Idaho's dependency on federal dollars undermines our state sovereignty and makes us vulnerable to downturns in the national economy. Idaho must learn to live within its means and preserve its sovereignty.
4. Would you support legislation to remove criminal liability for physicians and pregnant women experiencing life threatening pregnancy complications and allow for medical and family decisions regarding continuation of that pregnancy? Please explain your response.
Idaho's laws already allow doctors to treat life threatening emergency medical conditions in pregnant women. If you are asking whether I support abortions, my answer is no. Pregnancy is not an emergency medical condition in and of itself. And nothing in our laws prevent a doctor from treating emergency medical conditions in pregnant women. And with respect to family medical decisions, of course I believe these are private decisions to be made by individuals rather than the government. However, deciding to murder an innocent unborn human being is not a medical decision. Abortion, other than to save the life of the mother should be viewed as the murder of an unborn child. Our laws must stand against this.
5. Is there anything else you would like to tell the voters?
I am a Christian, Conservative, Republican who believes in small, efficient, and non-intrusive government. I believe morality and Christian-Judeo ethics should underpin our law making efforts and government in general.
