Idaho House of Representatives members serve a 2-year term and are responsible for translating the public will into public policy for the state, levying taxes, appropriating public funds, and overseeing the administration of state agencies. These responsibilities are carried out through the legislative process — laws passed by elected representatives of the people, legislators.
Biographical Information
1. What do you hope to accomplish if elected?
My first priority would be to give power to make medical decisions back to health care providers and not the state legislature. This means the power to provide necessary care to everyone, including pregnant women, and LGBTQA persons. I would also ensure that other professionals, such as librarians and teachers, are free to do their jobs without government interference.
Other issues I'd like to address are expanding health care access, school funding. the housing crisis, addressing the population growth, and how this affects our natural resources, and worker's rights. I realize we have many more issues facing Idahoans, and my goal is to listen to what the people want.
2. What experience has prepared you for this office?
I have been caring for people for 46 years as an RN and some time in a public health role. In that time, I have seen life threatening complications of pregnancy, as well as what happens when people don't have access to comprehensive health care, including preventive care.
3. What do you see as the most significant challenges Idaho faces that you might be able to address in this position?
The strict abortion ban is number one. We are losing qualified physicians, and labor and delivery units.

4. Would you support legislation to remove criminal liability for physicians and pregnant women experiencing life threatening pregnancy complications and allow for medical and family decisions regarding continuation of that pregnancy. Please explain your response.
Absolutely yes. The legislature is not qualified to make these decisions about women's bodies. Tying the hands of physicians is a danger to all women in the state, because we are losing providers, which limits access to care for all of us. A majority of Idahoans oppose the strict ban, and it is the job of the legislature to represent the people.
5. What else would you like to tell the voters?
If elected, I would listen, be inclusive, and do my best to represent the people of Idaho, and not take orders from narrow interests. I am a 6th generation Idahoan, and I love my state.
