What has inspired you to run for this office?
I have been a member of the school board for the last 3 years and have a sincere desire to be sure that our schools represent the values and commitment to educational excellence our community embraces.
What qualifications and experiences do you have that prepare you for the local Board of Education?
I have 25 years of business management, to include 20 years of working with both elementary and early childhood children. I also worked at Tomahawk School District serving the gifted and talented children and our English Language learners.
What should be the priorities for your district? Please explain.
The basics first: Reading, Math, Science, Language Arts, etc.
These come first and foremost.
However education does not just come from books, it develops from interactions and experiences also. Therefore it is essential that we continue to support the extra curriculars such as athletics, music, arts, drama, technical skills etc.
We need to support the whole child at each level of the educational process.
Do you have concerns about school funding? Please explain.
"Seek to understand"- I think every school in WI has concerns about funding, it is why we need to be sure we are being fiscally responsible in the manners in which we spend those funds. That being said, operational expenses for school districts are far more expansive than most people realize. It's also why we need school board members who ask questions to gain that understanding.
