Please describe two or three of your priorities, if elected, and how you will address those issues.

I am very concerned about addressing the PFAS issues in Oneida County. It is in so many products that are used in our daily lives. I believe we have to raise community awareness to reduce their risk of exposure to these chemicals. It is also imperative to secure state funding to assist those families in Oneida County most affected by these chemicals. Another priority is finding solutions to affordable childcare in our county, so the workforce isn’t spending their entire paychecks on childcare.

How should the county board address their responsibilities with regard to health and human services?

The county board needs to put public health and safety at the forefront of their responsibilities, ensuring access to clean water, healthy foods and promoting activity for all ages. The board should support prenatal care, quality childcare, address drug and alcohol addiction issues, attracting healthcare workers for our aging population partnering with Nicolet College to train workers in these and other areas by offering waivers, grants or scholarships for workers that commit to serving the community for a specified period of time.

Please rank the three most important environmental issues the county is facing? Please explain why.

PFAS is at the top of environmental concerns in our county. The short and long term effects of these forever chemicals. Excessive exposure to PFAS has been linked to some cancers, affecting fertility and a host of other health issues. Lake and shoreline protection is another important issue the county is facing. Natural vegetative shorelines are buffers to protect lakes from runoff and erosion that can lead to decreased water quality. Shorelines provide habitat and protection for fish and other wildlife. Unpredictable weather has negatively impacted our county this year, creating economic stressors on all businesses and workers reliant on the winter tourism industry.

What do you consider the most important aspects of local infrastructure and how should federal funding be allocated?

In addition to improving overall quality of life for cities, towns and villages, investments in infrastructure support occupations in the trades, administrative, and managerial positions offering more livable wages. Federal funding should be allocated based on communities that are in need of improvements to develop, attract and retain businesses and workers.

How can the county board and individual supervisors take advantage of new avenues of communication with the community?

The county board and individuals can use technology such as all in one apps that allow for sending important information to constituents across multiple messaging platforms in addition to phone and email communication.
