COURT SERVICESEnsuring the just execution of the county’s laws, the court system is an invaluable component of La Porte County government. Here, citizens can access a range of judicial services and information: important searches and directories, such as the sex offender registry and missing children search, often-requested information about marriage licensing and juvenile probation, as well as a variety of forms for electronic download.DEFINITION OF CLERK OF THE CIRCUIT COURTThe Clerk of the Circuit Court is a ministerial officer who is the custodian of the Clerk’s record and seal, issues process, accepts filings of commencement of actions in litigation, enters judgments and orders of the court, receives money in their official capacity, makes certified copies of record, issues many miscellaneous licenses, and keeps a record of all wills and matters of trust in probate proceedings. The Clerk, who is an officer of the Court, performs all official duties imposed by statute or by lawful authority of the Court.

How would you maintain the confidentiality and security of the information you work with?
Protecting sensitive information is a top priority. There are many laws and regulations in place to ensure the proper handling of information and I pledge to follow those laws and regulations.
What would your definition of good service be?
Good service is defined as being professional and courteous to every person. Good service should be respectful and also knowledgeable, in a way that meets the needs of the person being served. Currently, in my job in Voter's Registration, I strive to serve each person, providing them with the information they need, efficiently and with a kind, patient demeanor.
How would you organize your workload?
Having clear priorities and remaining focused and organized around important dates deadlines will be a key to helping me organize my workload.
As Clerk, how will you ensure county wide voter access?
Since I currently work in Voter's Registration, equal voter access is so important to me! We need to ensure our vote centers are strategically placed to ensure all voters have convenient access that is along a public transportation route (when available). We also need to communicate clearly and make sure all locations are visible with effective signage.
We could also utilize our mobile unit during the election for maximum effectiveness, and use it in non election months to bring awareness to voter registration!
During the Election, we need to ensure all our poll workers receive sufficient training and are given the resources they need to work the polling locations properly.
