How do you plan to address immigration reform?
Immigration reform needs careful, compassionate consideration. We must trust experts who study and understand the issues that drive immigration and the social and economic factors that impact communities near our borders to guide policy-making. We need updated facilities and streamlined processes to ease the burden on those communities most directly affected.
What is your stance on access to abortion and contraception?
There should be no impediment to a woman's bodily autonomy. Full stop. We must trust experts in reproductive health to provide sound medical advice when it comes to difficult decisions in reproductive matters, and we must trust women to do what is best for themselves and their families.
What, if any, actions would you support to address the threats facing the United States due to climate change?
We must take action by encouraging the exploration and development of renewable energy. Incentivizing research and development of alternatives to fossil fuels, single-use plastics, stemming the use of forever chemicals, and environmentally destructive mining and agricultural practices are all steps in the right direction.
What are the most important challenges facing our country, and how do you propose to address them?
• Income inequality - propose a universal basic income and a 'maximum wage' for CEO pay
• Insurmountable healthcare costs - universal healthcare/Medicare for all
• Education - bolster public school programs, better teacher pay, strengthen separation of church and state
• Gun violence - regulation of firearms and access to firearms
