DUTIES: Convention delegates elected in the Primary are part of the state delegations that officially select their party’s presidential candidate at the party’s national conventions. Presidential nominees are not elected directly by the voters in the Primary. Rather, voters in each state choose delegates to represent them at the national conventions.HOW ELECTED: Democratic voters will elect delegates to their national convention from each Congressional District (CD), with the number based on the number of Democratic voters in that district. Each Congressional District will elect approximately equal numbers of female and male delegates, with some non-binary delegates included within the state total. Each candidate’s gender will be listed under their name on the ballot. The presidential candidates will receive delegates in proportion to their share of the vote in that district. For additional information see the party’s rules on the party s website.
