What is your top concern about K-12 education in Nebraska and what would be your solution?
My top concern in Nebraska's K-12 education is the diversion of public funds to private schools, exacerbating underfunding and teacher shortages in public schools. To address this, we must invest more in public schools and close funding gaps. Prioritizing competitive salaries and comprehensive support systems for educators is essential to attract and retain highly qualified teachers. This ensures equal access to quality education for all students.
What steps would you support to ensure access to clean water for all Nebraskans?
Access to clean water is not just a priority in Nebraska; it's a fundamental need for our citizens. My approach to ensuring this access would involve taking measures to monitor water quality and support programs that help municipalities take steps to modernize water delivery systems. Additionally, I would support measures to promote conservation, such as erosion control and reducing chemical fertilizer usage, to prevent further water source contamination. It's imperative that no Nebraskan is left without access to safe and reliable water supplies.
What are the most important challenges facing our state, and how do you propose to address them?
Rising property taxes and concerns of increased cost of living are big issues in our state. I want to ensure working individuals and families are well-positioned to thrive. We need a fair tax structure that doesn't punish working people by imposing high property taxes. I'll tackle rising property taxes by ensuring fairer valuations that eases the burden on homeowners instead of giving tax cuts that help wealthy out-of-state businesses.
