What qualifies and motivates you to run for this position?

I’m a native and lifelong citizen of Guadalupe County. Throughout my life, I’ve seen it grow into what it is today, and I believe it takes a citizen who grew up with their county to be able to serve their fellow citizens.

I currently serve as one of two members on the State Libertarian Executive Committee who represents Senate District 21, and I am in my third term as Vice Chair of the Libertarian Party of Guadalupe County.

What do you believe are the three top issues facing people in your district and what steps will you take to address them?

I’m strongly in favor of keeping our county fiscally conservative, and to bring in alternative ways to fund county projects without the need of taxpayer money as well as lowering taxes at the same time.

I believe small businesses are a major cornerstone here, and after the impact of the pandemic a couple of years ago, we lost many good businesses. I am to work with the other commissioners and county judge to create protections for local small businesses from governmental overreach.

I would like to create an outreach program to connect the special needs community with local nonprofits that aim to assist citizens with special needs and their families without the use of public funds.

Would you ask the State Legislature to give county governments more authority to protect their environment and water resources? Why or why not?

Absolutely not! More government control over the environment and water resources will create more problems than solutions. It is the right of individuals themselves to decide what is the best course of action to protect the environment and water resources.

As a county commissioner, what will you do to ensure that the County has an adequate water supply now and into the future?

I would like to work with the community to dissolve Special Utility Districts, and bring them back to nonprofit corporations. Governmental influence in water rights can bring more ethical harm to the liberties of the people’s own solutions to solving problems with the water supply.

Would you support a bond issue to purchase land for parks, open spaces and natural areas? Why or Why not?

Absolutely not! Parks, public open spaces, and natural areas should be funded voluntarily by individuals, organizations, or nonprofits.
