HARRIS COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION (POSITION 3 AT LARGE) Choose 1

A County School Trustee for the Harris County Department of Education (HCDE) oversees county-wide educational programs and services that benefit all school districts within Harris County. Unlike local school boards that focus on individual districts, HCDE Trustees manage programs like special education, adult education, and early childhood services. They are responsible for approving budgets, setting policies, and ensuring the effective delivery of these services, which support schools across the county. Trustees help provide resources and professional development that local districts may not be able to fund on their own. Trustees are elected to serve four-year terms and work to enhance education county-wide.

Harris County families also struggle to access affordable quality childcare/early education. We need to invest more in early childhood education so that we have a solid foundation for our future in Harris County. I will continue to advocate for both

How will you allocate resources so that early education, adult education, and special education services will all be successful?

I will continue to be a vocal leader in advocating for more resources for Early Childhood Education, Adult Education and Special Education. By finding efficiencies and budgeting judiciously, we will be able to invest in these important programs to benefit our community. Adequately funding these (3) three initiatives is a wise investment in the future success of Harris County.
